I absolutely love the way Octavia Butler creates characters and tells stories. This one is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Absolutely perfect.

I fell in love with Anyanwu - I just love everything about her. And I honestly love Doro too? He’s def evil and I hate him, but one of the most fascinating characters I’ve ever met.

I’m slowly reading Octavia Butler’s entire collection and very much enjoying it.

Well that was weird.. not sure how I feel about it. Not my favorite of Octavia Butler’s books that I’ve read so far. It wasn’t bad necessarily, just.. meh.

Even though it is slow, character-driven, and didn't have much excitement building to a climax, it still felt thoughtful and intriguing. I look forward to reading the second book in the series.

Octavia is so good.  I adored Parable of the Sower/Talents and Wild Seed did not disappoint as a follow-up for me.  The whole premise is so unique and such a great look at greed and power...the power struggles, oh boy can Octavia write a power struggle.  There is so much at play in this book, so many critiques of religion, and race dynamics and how we treat people who are different, fear, commentary on slavery.  It's a whirlwind of a power-packed book.  Not to mention she'll have you hating a character one page and feeling sorry for them the next.  Ugh, just so good.  I'm planning to work through the entire catalog and am excited to continue on.
