Cassandra Clare is one of the better authors of the ya-fantasy genre and if you overlook her ripping of another writer, you can actually enjoy this book. The characters and the storyline are fine and it's easy to read. But what is that awful "is it or isn't it incest" storyline. We definitely could have done without it, ma'am.

I LOVE this book series so much. The plot is so clever and the characters are very interesting and as you read, you want to learn more about them. There are a few things in this series that very much bugged me, <MAJOR SPOILERS> firstly that the reader is under the assumption that Clary and Jace are siblings for soooo long. That grossed me out a lot, felt like that really wasn't needed. Also, do not at all like that Clary and Sebastian kiss even though they are literally siblings and that he shows interest in her later on in the books. <spoilers over> Also, Clary is a bit of a pick me girl... but it's a YA book from the early 2000's what did I expect. Other than that I love these books!!! There is a good amount of action but it's not too graphic. The romance is also not too fast paced and none of the relationships are unhealthy depictions of good relationships.
