Haven’t read anything written by Tessa Dare before so I thought I would give it a try since “A Clockwork Reader” mentioned it in one of her videos.

Although some of the plot was basic, and in my opinion over used, I liked the way that Dare had written it - that old, proper English way. However, to me there was a lot of detailed intimacy in the novella which I was not expecting. From the title I was expecting there to be some intimate scenes but not to the extent that there was.

However, I am willing to give Tessa Dare another chance as I do like her narrative voice.

Great little novella. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Dare can do no wrong. Her characters are simply fabulous.

A really cute, sweet, quick novella from Tessa Dare, her very first published work (I believe is what she said). Cecily has been in love with Luke for years but after a connection they shared the night before he left for war, there’s been little to know communication between them. Luke returns from the war, not physically harmed but he’s lived through horrors and he does not want to unleash his new self on someone so sweet and innocent. What Luke doesn’t realize is that Cecily has done some growing over the years as well. As they are thrown together at a house party they have to break free and show that they are right for each other, no matter what has passed since their last meeting. Fun read!

Some of this novella was great, but the rest of it didn't make much sense. It was a fun read though.

A short novella about a couple that can't let go, and with some Gothic undertones.

Luke was a bit of an ass, ok I get that war screwed you up, but omg Cecily has waited years for you! Do not be such an ass.

Yep, Cecily has waited years for the man she loves. But he is all, marry someone else, I am hurt.

And in the mean time they hunt for a werestag (that does not exist, this is not pnr).

But everyone lives happily ever after, and the wanton dairymaid book is mentioned :)

I didn't realise it was a novella when I downloaded it. Not sure why I have this book. I wanted to read a like fun romance before bed. This isn't it but I like Tessa Dare's writing style perhaps her newer tales and full length novels hold more.

Short regency styled novella with a overbearing macho male lord who is mean spirited until the heroine wears him down with undying unwavering commitment.

Maybe 2.5 stars.
