I love the premise of this book so much. It had many interesting and unique aspects to it.
The pace was a bit slow. Not a lot happens considering the build up and tension.
➖However, it was written in a way that still kept me interested and entertained.
I was very intrigued in Deanna/Jessica’s life and her past. She’s a very interesting and likable character who happens to be morally grey. I happen to love morally grey characters.
I did enjoy the descriptions of her web cam interactions. I don’t think it went very far into kinky and freaky. I could have handled plenty more.
But, that’s me.
The erotic aspect is very mild in my opinion, the dark aspect as well. I think it’s a good starter book for someone who is interested in dark and erotic books, but is hesitant. This is the least disturbing of any book I’ve read that’s advertised as such.
Granted I read some pretty dark stuff, full disclosure I have very few triggers and hard limits with books.

This is a psychological thriller with sexual undertones in my opinion.
It has a little bit of romance, that’s definitely not the focus. The romance is very satisfying though.
I enjoyed the change of genre and I think it’s really well written. The author writes in a very engaging and unique way and I think plenty of research and thought was put into many aspects of the story.
I will be reading the next book in the trilogy.

There were some parts in the first half of this book that made it difficult to keep reading. I feel like a warning should have been added!

Once I hit the halfway mark I went right through it until the end.

Overall, it was a good book and I do want to see what happens in the next one.

So unique. I loved it. Deanna would like how convenient ordering things online is now days. This book was written in 2015, it’s interesting to see how things have changed.

The discussions of mental health, sex definitions, and the character development was great and interesting.

That was a pretty messed up read but so interesting. Jessica aka Deanna clearly has demons that she is fighting with. And to help curb the appetite of those demons she locks herself away into apartment 6E. She makes money by web camming (a sickly fascinating career by the way) and her only interaction with others is either over the web, occasionally on the phone and through her door. She has had this existence for three years and this book is a peek into why she is living this way and what happens when her orderly yet dysfunctional word is turned upside down by a missing girl.

Much of the book is spent setting up the life of Jessica, how she lives without going outside, who her clients are, and her daily routine. For about the first half of the book, I was intrigued but wondering where in the world the book was going...until you get there. What happens when Jessica's little world is set askew by an AMBER alert. You become accustom the Jessica's world, how she lives, why she does what she does. You become unreasonably comfortable with the way things are and then you along with Jessica are abruptly forced to face many of the things that you have been hiding from.

This book is probably not for everyone, as it was pretty crazy. It's only erotic in sense of description and Jessica's choice of career. The book itself is more of a psycho-erotic thriller. I am cannot wait to find out where the sequel is going to go, because while you are not left hanging, Jessica's story is clearly not over.

audiobook review

Well, well, well. As usual, I went in blind to this one after seeing some great reviews. I didn't really know what to expect with this one, but I'm glad I started listening when I was home alone since it's definitely NSFW. ;)  If you like a little spice in your thrillers, this could be a great pick for you!

After a traumatic upbringing, Deanna can tell she has inherited some sinister traits. To protect those around her, she has chosen to keep herself locked in her apartment (6E). To pay her bills, she works in the cyber sex world and has risen to become highly sought after by her clients. After getting some creepy vibes from her newest repeat client, she considers leaving the confinement of her apartment to seek some Dexter-like action.

I thought this narrator was great! It was a fun, dark, erotic thriller. I haven't read may of those, and I thought it was a great time. I will absolutely be listening to the rest of the trilogy in the near future and will be sad when the Deanna Madden series ends. I would love to hear any comps folks have!

Rating: I really liked it! (4.5)

I didn't love this as much as I had hoped. The last twenty or so pages felt kinda out of place; if they weren't there I'd have rated this four stars. I haven't decided if I was going to continue on to the next book yet.

This was quite the ride. You can tell that the author put a lot of research in to this novel.
It was fascinating, and creepy, and you wanted to know what was going to happen.
