One of those books that are hard to put down, truly an amazing insight into and comparison between the antebellum south of slavery and 'modern' (1980s) America.

Speculative historical fiction perfected. This was a gripping read and a sobering window into the shameful past of the U.S. It was also inspirational and heart warming. I think this should be required reading.
