Absolute chaos! This book was chaos! At times hard to keep up with, but either the chaos slows down halfway through or your brain finally gets with the program. Anxious People was also beautiful and heartwarming, I fell in love with so many of the characters, their stories and outcomes.

  • I love this book. It made me laugh, cry, and my head exploded, all of the emotions.
  • The way it is written is from different perspectives, and you really get to know the characters.
  • I love that every time you think you know what’s going to happen, something happens to blow your mind.
  • I really loved this story because it’s about how seemingly random things are all connected, and that you are never truly alone in your experiences.
  • The story is about a bank robbery that turns into a hostage situation, but it is so much more than that. It was really easy to relate to the characters, and fully appreciate what they were going through.
  • 10/10 would recommend!

This book made me cry at work. Just a little. I also massively changed my mind on pretty much all the characters, going from being irritated and annoyed by them to geniunely loving them.

I really enjoyed the characters and the plot itself of the story. I struggled with the way that it was written as I felt like this book said a simple line in a massive paragraph. I adored how all of the characters were linked. I did find some inconsistencies, I was extremely tired while reading so maybe it’s just me, as the bank robber at the beginning was a man and by the end of a couple of days they were a woman.

Absolute perfection. I’ve never wanted to help a random stranger more in my life.

So hilariously insightful, I didn't know what to do with myself after I finished it. Without a doubt, the best book I've read so far this year. Do be warned, it tends to get heavy in the middle, which is the reason it took me 3 months to complete (plus exams, but who cares about those, right?).

It keeps its pacing all throughout the book, and even when we get to the heavy parts, Backman keeps it light with a well-timed sarcastic comment or incongruous joke. The story flows well, and the smooth change in point of views compliments the non-linear storytelling. The writing is beautiful and the way the story comes together at the end is inspired.
