This was really cute. JQ always has the best dialogue, I laughed out loud at several scenes.

I thought maybe Elizabeth might have spent a little too much time being upset during the climax of the book? I didn't think what James did was honestly that bad and he had reasons that he explained to her. She seemed a bit like the stupid heroine who flies off the handle at anything. But the resolution was great and I did love James and Elizabeth together.

This is the kind of romance novel I like - it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Edit 9/24: I have NO idea why I liked this the first time around. It was so bad.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for fluffy regency romances and this book certainly delivers on the fluff. It's got all the best storylines: secret identities, witty banter, rags to riches. No literary value but I feel happier for reading it.

A cute, fun Julia Quinn!

The plot was obvious, but then I’m not looking for something convoluted out of my romances (most of the time).

Knocked off half a star only because Elizabeth was a little extra in her reaction to the reveal. Ma’am you’ve been saying the whole time you’d marry for money to help your family. He has money. You actually love each other. Just marry him. So he lied a little bit. Like damn.
