Major trigger warning for child abuse and SA!
So, I just finished this book and it was.. just ok. It really didn’t make me feel any emotion at all apart from disgust at some of the SA/pedophile parts. This book is a thriller but it didn’t shock me or thrill me in the slightest, I was expecting twists and turns or at least some suspense but really it was just a long lead up to what I was already expecting. I didn’t realise there was a detective’s POV so maybe it just wasn’t for me. I will say that it was written in a way that is easy to read, and there was a small amount of interesting psychological aspects.

This book was just terrible. Slow, boring, and predictable.

Such a slow read. Didn’t care about the characters or where it was going. Literally put me to sleep.

I don't often care for thrillers, but this one I liked.

[pov of wife of pedophile, plus the detective and reporter. Traces wife's denial, accidental complicity, revolt]

My Dad says I spoil too much in my reviews, so I shall simply say that it wasn’t quite the story I expected based on the way it was framed on the back, but I really enjoyed the perspective switches and thought that they and the time jumps added some interesting elements to the reading experience.

Too obvious

This plodded along, and was too obvious in plot, and also seemed inconsistent with the time period it is set in. 2007-2010 and people are THAT unfamiliar with computers? Everyone using chatrooms? Also Jean wasn't but 40, but talked like she was 80.
