All The Broken Places

John Boyne

4.33 AVERAGE

A follow-up to the 2006 novel 'The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas" by John Boyne, "All the Broken Places" jumps from present to past quickly, following the main character, Greta, from her childhood in 1940 to an old woman. She is the sister of Bruno, who we got to know in the earlier book. From a more mature point of view, this story goes through survivor's guilt to redemption in a very poignant way. 4 stars

Very compelling exploration of grief and complicity. A worthy follow up to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

So much to think about. Used for part of the 52 week book challenge 2024 since I needed a duo-logy.

Very sad but such a great read! Well written and hard to put down. Highly recommend (but only if you’ve read The Boy in the Striped Pajamas because this is the sequel).
