This book was a total gamble for me. I'd read Calmes' Marshall series and become hooked instantly but I was a bit apprehensive about jumping on this series. I'm so glad I did. I'm a teacher and spent the entire day reading it behind my laptop while my kids worked because I didn't want to stop.
There's something unique about this approach to the 'were' animal trope and I love it. It's refreshing and sultry. Jin is a fantastic protagonists and being on his shoulder as he narrates is delightful.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It's fast-paced and has an independent and capable main character.
I LOVE JIN! He's so capable and so strong, emotionally, physically and mentally. He's my cinnamon roll. Despite all the things that he's been through, he stood strong. Jin is not your typical uke. He's not dependent to the main lead of the book and he decides on his own. I have no words to express my affection for him.

Also, I love his best friend. He's sweet and dependable. That is all. :)
My only complaint about this book is that I dislike everyone else aside from the two characters I mentioned above. I can only tolerate the main lead but that changes from time to time (aka if he's not being an ass or in alpha mode). Ugh! There were homophobic characters in this novel which disgusts me. And pushovers. If not for Jin and Crane, I'll probably rate this novel lower than 4 stars.

4.5 stars.
im having SUCH a great book month, and this was another amazing read.
usually if the main characters still haven't met each other at ~20% i'll get impatient but the interactions between jin and every character in the book were so fucking enjoyable i didn't even mind. i would gladly read 500 pages of nothing but people meeting and immediately worshipping jin - no romantic plot required.
the worldbuilding was straightforward, without too many nonsensical rules/terms, and came across very neat and clear-cut. there's nothing i love more than neat, systematic worldbuilding in a paranormal/fantasy/shifter book.
im definitely reading more books by this author (im also losing my MIND because i just found out this is a series not a standalone, which means i get more jin content !!! so happy).

Oh wow! WOW!
I love the world this author created! The werepanthers, the laws, all the hierarchy, I love it! So imaginative and creative. I like reading and learning about it.
Jin and Logan, my heart. I just wanted to take care of Jin. I'm so happy that he had Crane all this time. And the people who surround Logan were awesome. This was an enjoyable read. I'm so very glad I read it! ♥

3.5 Stars. It was well written. Some elements of the relationship leave a bit to be desired, but overall, enjoyable.
The beginning of the book is great. I love that the author just throws you into the story and the characters and it leaves it up to the reader to figure out what’s going on. This can be both good and bad, and luckily for the author, to me it was good.
I do have to admit that at times, it felt rushed beyond belief. And I wanted to be like: calm the F down!
I loved loved loved Jin and his best friend Crane (sp.? – can’t remember).
They were my fav. Logan, I found annoying beyond all reason and not just b/c he was like this “I am the leader, you must obey me,” misogynistic type that I just wanted to punch in the face.
Sassy Jin was sassy. GOD, did I love him and his one-liners. Although, at times, it felt like Logan treated him like a girl and not a gay man and that really bothers me.
"I loved being discussed as I wasn't there."
I liked that Jin was strong, opinionated, and no one could tell him what to do.
The over use of ‘baby’ by Logan did start to piss me off a little bit.
The sex.
HUH. There is such a thing as too much and yet, not enough.
There were A LOT, A LOT, A LOT of sex scenes but they were so UNWORTHY it was ridiculous.
The Limo sex was great. That was prob. my favourite. However, it felt like the author just kept on throwing them in for absolutely no reason. Like, I get it, they’re mates, and they fuck. A LOT.
You could tell (I thought) that the author wasn’t even into the sex scene b/c the scene starts with Logan wearing sweat pants after Jin comes out of the shower (and he’s in a towel mind you) and then a few sentences later, someone was unbuttoning someone’s JEANS. And I was like “wait, I thought he was wearing sweats.”
I hate that the authors take their audience for a food. Like, fuck you, can you at least get the clothing right in the middle of smut, did you not think that I’d be so engrossed in reading about Jin’s cock that I wouldn’t notice Logan was wearing sweat?
I really hate shit like this in m/m books. Like, I am paying for it, the least you can do is respect the audience. If I wanted crappy porn…I’d you know…watch porn.
SMH.
All in all. 3 stars for the great stuff and the bullshit stuff.
Not sure if I wanna read the sequels. Seems like unnecessary angst.
