i didn’t like it nearly as much as the other two in harwicz’s “involuntary trilogy”, but it still had that wonderful quality to the writing which makes her art so distinctive. it’s disturbing and unsettling, perhaps even more so than her other novels, and yet nonetheless it maintains that sense of magnetism to it. i didn’t like a single character and there was a lot i didn’t agree with, but it’s worth reading to see how it fits into the canon of her other works. beautiful, ugly, dedicated prose and a superb translation. definitely a quick read too.
