oooh I loved this. The setting, the characters, the mystery around them
I love witchy books anyways and this really makes me want to know more about the true events and about Alice & Fleetwood!

Edana recommended this when we went for our reading weekend in Fermanagh, that was a long time ago. I think I was nervous to not like it. But that was unnecessary. I really enjoyed this. It was a lot longer that I expected but I loved the characters. Poor Fleetwood is just a child, she needed to be protected, not used and isolated.

The premise and set up if good but everything compelling and all the driving force for the main character is undone in the last 15 pages. Also a notiable lack of familiars.

I think it’s quite well written and when there is “action” it’s very captivating and I want to keep reading. I actually don’t mind the POV because it’s that well written, I think it fits the story really well and even makes it better. The ending I quite liked, it felt very deserved for Fleetwood, especially after how everything was going for her.

Very little happens, and action is far apart, so it gets a little hard to read and slightly boring at times. The chapters are so long, most of them are almost unbearably long. I do find the whole age thing a bit disturbing, even if it fits the time period. I do wish there had been more about the witch trials, it’s very skimmed over.

I don’t think I would read it again, it lacks the whole witch trials it’s supposed to be about
