My heart hurts, even more than Dark Age. Lysander is awful but masterfully written. Darrow and Lyria are much improved. I love this series so freaking much!

After a bit of a letdown for me (Iron Gold), and a bloodydamn dark book (Dark Age), Light Bringer felt like a return to form for the Red Rising Saga. Although we still have multiple narrators, Pierce made an intentional choice in the book to really focus on Lysander's and Darrow's stories, and that really helped bring the series back a bit. We still get Virginia and Lyria PoVs, but they are definitely more secondary characters. That said, Lyria remains a standout, and her PoVs are some of the best - Pierce has her voice down in a way I don't think he's had with many other characters.
This book has some true emotional highs and lows, and really progresses the story from Iron Gold/Dark Age into what will be a final confrontation in Red God.
