🌏 Celebrating Earth Hour 2024 🌏

A good book to introduce Earth Hour to the kids. Simple yet meaningful story. And also beautiful illustrations!

This is a beautiful and important book that was perfect for both our science studies (energy) and our world geography studies because of all of the geographic landmarks that my son got to name and use to identify the locations.

Did you know one night each year in March a million people turn off their lights for an hour? I didn’t. This practice started in Australia and quickly spread around the globe. Turning off the light reminds people of managing our consumption in an effort to combat global warming. Love the wide selection of environments and people.

Although Earth Hour happens in March, usually around the spring equinox, this is definitely a book you'll want to share to celebrate ways to help the Earth! For one hour, 8:30-9:30pm, lights are turned off. It starts in one place and travels around the world according to the different time zones. Famous locations go dark - the Sydney Opera House, Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge - and the message in the book is you can do this too. For one hour, do something to help preserve the energy on Earth.

Loved the variety of people and places showcased in this book. I would love to share this with my storytime group or encourage teachers to read it in class!

Okayyyyy so I feel so bad because before reading this book I was highly unaware of earth hour and I feel like I definitely should be doing better about energy conservation. The illustrations and the diversity showcased in this book were great! If you didn’t know Earth Hour occurs this year on March 28th at 8:30pm and I’m definitely going to participate. I think with the direction that our planet is going in it’s definitely important to teach our little ones about taking care of the planet and how we can do better about conserving energy.

Haha, not sure what I was expecting but this was a lot shorter than I thought it'd be. It was short and concise. Good for kids. The only thing I feel it was missing was an explanation for Earth Hour /in/ the bulk of the book, rather than at the end as like an epilogue or whatter you wanna call that. It would have been easier for kids (and newbies, lol) to consume.
