I'm really not the type to read non-fiction, but this one was really great!
I like the casual tonality and the funny anecdotes. I fly through it since the approach is not too heavy/serious, plus the cute illustrations too!
It made me feel validated and seen and I read it at the perfect time. Such a nice book to add to my collection too!

While the book didnβt personally present anything new to
me, i liked what it stood for. A lot of its thoughts are in response to Korean culture/norms, thus context is important on reading this book. It can be provoking and direct, which I loved about it.
Overall, its a book that challenges the majority and begs us to reconsider what we believe to be the rules of society.

I like the tone of this book while reading. It seems preachy but with empathy. It isn't condescending and arrogant. The structure and writing are good. Also, socially relevant which is a plus.

I read this as part of a book club I am in, plus it was one of JK's reads. However, I am a little bit discriminating of my books especially self-help books even if it is highly recommended. I will say that I love the author's wit and almost sarcastic way of writing, it comes across as authentic and unpretentious. I feel like she really believes in what she says and most of the things she said based on her experiences are really relatable especially to women. I love that she encourages people to love yourself first, which is actually part of BTS' messages in their songs, maybe that is why it resonates to JK so much as well. One small thing that I did not quite get, though, is the concept "it's ok to be ordinary" but at the same time you need to determine what you are good at and what you enjoy the most in choosing a profession, or be ambitious if that is what makes you happy. Maybe I need to reread those passages again to determine if there is really a contradiction there, but I guess what she is trying to say that if you fail in certain things, or life doesn't exactly turn out the way you want to (hello, story of my life) then just accept it and it doesn't make your life any less meaningful. I would recommend it to readers, especially of Asian descent like me, with the rising violence against Asians, this book is a good reminder of how we are all humans and not to be discriminated upon and to just stand up for oneself. :)

Took me a while to get the light this book, only because I was taking my time with it.
I really enjoyed this book recommendation. Thanks again, κΉμμ°. I also finished this book when Iβve been mentally having a hard time and a lot of the latter part of the book was what I really needed to hear right now. Iβll carry some of the little pieces of wisdom with me.
