A beautiful, swoon-y book.
The nerd references were a delight and I felt right at home.
Not a lot of depth and I knew exactly what was going to happen but it was cozy and romantic and honestly would make a fantastic rom-com film.
I was a little disappointed that they left the Darcy’s Mom subplot unresolved but such is life.

i liked this book! it’s definitely very…millennial, which is fair bc that’s the generation the main characters belong to but still it felt a bit over the top at some points. overall it’s a cute wlw romance and if ur looking for an easy read i’d recommend it.

This was a 5 star for me 70% of the way through, then, unfortunately, dropped a bit. Still quite enjoyable overall, and I will continue to read the series, but I think I’m just tired of the trope involving
a deadbeat parent that the otherwise sensible character let’s completely walk all over them.  Darcy knows her mom’s a complete idiot, yet she proceeds to let her mom get in her head and dictate the events of the last 30% of the book. It is just frustrating and seems inconsistent with the character the reader spent the rest of the book enjoying getting to know.

I didn’t connect with either main character. Both apparently feel sparks on the first date, but the reader knows this only  because they are expressly told so. It does not come through believably in the characters’ thoughts or dialogue. Instead the chemistry is based on Elle and Darcy finding each other pretty and beautiful, respectively, and that’s all. The premise for fake-dating was also a bit weak. So I just wasn’t invested in the story or these characters.
