Chizmar does it again. All throughout this book I had to keep reminding myself that it was fictional. Chizmar is a master at blending fiction and reality. The ending was a bit unsatisfying and felt like too many loose ends were being wrapped up too quickly, but he set himself up for a third installment and if that ever gets written I will surely read it

This book threw me for a whirlwind. I went in thinking it was a normal copy cat case and it would be the final book. Boy was I wrong. The last chapter had me punching the book and hollering. I was shook in the final part titled “after”. I literally want the third one, NOW.
It did get a little boring in the middle with so much info about his past life and stuff but the ending was definitely worth it.

5 stars

Just like the first book, this one was so fucking good! But unlike the first one I blew through this book in a day. Chizmar once again writes with that air about him that makes this book feel SO *real.* I had to double check when I read book 1 to make sure all of the story was made up—and most of it was! And with this one even though I KNEW it was fake, I still had to remind myself several times while reading it. Chizmar is just that good at what he does! The ending very much left you with anticipation right away because there will be another book! I am giddy with book high and don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep right away since finishing this book. Now I can’t stop thinking about it!

This book had great descriptions and I loved the way the MC was kept in the loop by the police. The detective work detailed also delighted the little true crime freak in me. Overall this book was one I’d definitely recommend to someone else and I urge others to read this for a fantastic fictional true crime story!

GAH, even *knowing* it's mostly fiction, I still stopped multiple times to google stuff to see if they were real people/it had really happened! Chizmar just sucks you in and makes you think it's actually a true crime book, and I love it so much. And now I need the next book ASAP.
