Unfortunately, this book took all of my issues with the first book and magnified them. Long stretches of this book were simply boring, and I’d very quickly solved who the murderer was, leaving the rest of the book a slog until the characters caught up.

This is a great sequel and leaves you at the edge of your seat literally at the very end! If you love true crime or serial killer stories this book and the first one are for you! Can't wait for the next one!

After listening to Chasing the Boogeyman on audiobook with my husband and loving it, we were excited to get started immediately on Becoming the Boogeyman so I had the opportunity to compare the first and sequel back to back. Unfortunately, the first one did it for me much more than the sequel. For some reason, the middle dragged on and we had to force ourselves to get through it and stop procrastinating many times but it ultimately took us two months to get through. However, I will give much credit to Chizmar for his ability to create a fleshed-out character (i.e. the victims) in just a chapter without needing to spend 200 pages - here's looking at you, Stephen King ;)
