I absolutely loved this story of unlikely friendship. It is joyful, broken, warm, tender, and heartbreaking all at the same time. I really enjoyed the journey through time and the connection to art therapy. I knew from the very first page that it would be an emotional read, but sometimes, you just need that. (Except for the Alzheimer’s part… that was too close for comfort. My poor heart!)

An absolutely beautiful story of life, death and dying, and friendship. The weaving together of Lenni and Margot’s lives through their own storytelling mixed with their current day realities and relationships was beautifully done. Filled with compassion and love, this book had me in tears, made me laugh, and brought a smile to my face throughout.

If you’re in the mood to cry, laugh, and hope, this is your next book. Lenin and Margot have the most incredibly unlikely friendship. And bar none, the most beautiful. They are for each other everything the other has lost: child and mother. I wept like a baby. And then I gave it to my favorite elderly friend.

I cannot begin to explain the way that this book touched my soul. It is so depressing and upsetting yet beautiful and full of hope and love. For those personally connected to terminal illness and Alzheimer’s, this one hits very close to home. From Lenni and Margot, to Father Arthur, to Meena, to Humphrey, and more, the characters in this story were all so interesting to read about, were so important to Lenni and Margot’s story, and deserved so much more. I was actually unable to read this book without crying every time I picked it up! It’s books like these that make me incredibly grateful for the time with my loved ones that I’ve had and remind me to not take life for granted.

Everyone please read this!

A beautifully written story. This story was the debut for the author. It has beautiful characters. I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. Lenni who is 17 and Margot who is 83 together make 100. The story is told in both Lenni and Margot pov. Most of Margot is told by her stories to Lenni. This story shows that age is no barrier of friendship. Make sure you have plenty of tissues for this one.

This book made me both laugh and cry. It was an ugly cry but afterwards I felt a sense of peace and acceptance. I really hope Marianne Cronin writes more books because this debut novel blew me away. I absolutely adored it
