You can tell he is Stephen King's son with this book. He even mentions Pennywise's Circus. Wonderfully flawed characters who grow and one who doesn't. Vic and Charlie make great adversaries. I loved when Vic realized that Charlie genuinely thinks he is doing good and that he really loves the children. I love that Vic is not an angel of a hero, but in some ways an anti-hero. She makes a lot of mistakes, but overcomes them in the end.

This book was like a fever dream. Joe Hill has an amazing ability to transport you to the past and present with the intricate descriptions and details. I feel while this book got off to a slower start, it really takes the time to build the characters and then the climax hits and you're fully invested. The villains were HORRIFYING as well. Check trigger warnings!

This was good, but a little too long that I felt some parts dragged. I thought the concept was interesting, but I do personally wish that it was as supernatural as it was. This didn’t really creep me out and there was only like two or three kind of gross moments ( mostly relating to Bing). A lot of the characters were actually really funny. I also didn’t really love the ending to be honest.

Hill has a way of making fantastical settings and happenings seem realistic. Definitely some terrible stuff, a lot of graphic sexual violence (mostly "off page"). Good characters and well written.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I'm slowly learning to love horror reading, so the combination that is reading NOS4A2 was probably the natural result of that pairing. I loved this! The characters of this story are phenomenal. Hill does a wonderful job crawling around in the characters' heads and giving them depth. Vic is a fascinating, flawed protagonist, and Manx is a charming, terrifying villain. Even the secondary antagonist, Bing Partridge, was interesting, almost childlike, which made his role as "the Gasmask Man" and his horrific acts of service to Manx all the more unsettling. The plot itself builds on a low-medium pace, but when it picks up, it quickly becomes one hell of a page turner.

This book is not for the faint of heart with regards to the triggers (big ones for kidnapping, violence / murder and one animal death halfway through the book; references to rape / sexual assault and child abuse), but it's definitely worth a read, especially if you find a good creepy Christmas music playlist for ambience.

Incredible read. It’s 2AM and I feel nauseous. Once you get into it, it’s hard to get out. The end could have been expanded a little bit, but also it’s 2AM and I am unable to comprehend much. Incredible read.
