Okay, so I liked Ashes to Ashes but the ending was kind of a disappointment. I mean Torin's dad was made out to be this bad ass hyped up supervillain of a vampire douche canoe.. and he went out so freaking easily. Or maybe that's just how I'm seeing it right now. I was expecting so much more before we got to the very last page.

Other than that, I did like the romance blooming between her, Mav, and Torin. I laughed so hard with Beth was like I know what you are doing and choosing might be hard. Then Barbie blurts out that she is sticking with both guys and Beth is just like okay dang girl. As for Olivia dying, it seemed really pointless for that to happen (in my eyes) but at least it got Barbie to finally accept that she is girl/vampire/succubus demon.

In the end, the romance was probably the best part because it seemed to make things more balanced. Then Mav sort of being a part time dragon thing was kind of interesting but a bit random at times too. I'm just happy that I carved some time around this series to finally see it to the very end.

The conclusion to the series managed to carry the momentum forward and here we deal with the initial aftermath of the boys life-changing decision and Barbies not best pleased that’s for sure.
Back home a back-up plan will need to be formed as they all know they are living on borrowed time and the shadow of Torin’s father is definitely biting at all of their heels. Maverick definitely comes into his own here as he fully embraces his beast and Barbie is mastering control at a fast pace. There were some shocks one of them very emotional until we finally arrive at that final showdown that I’d been anticipating.

I loved how In tune Maverick and Torin were here both on the same page when it comes to protecting the girl they both love and the three have fantastic chemistry together. This managed to provide enough closure whilst also leaving the door open for future stories set in this supernatural world. On the whole an imaginative series that I’ve enjoyed a lot

Loved it

This was a such a good series, highly entertaining, Barbie is a great fiesty herione and Maverick and Torin were just the right amount of ***hole that had me panting. If you are an PNR RH lover I definitely recommend you give this series a read.

I love the premise of this story, but I REALLY struggled with Barbie’s personality. She shows pretty much no character growth throughout the series. I get that she’s supposed to have the independent and bitchy vibe, but she’s SO stubborn and ornery and you really don’t see any softer side to her at all. She’s pretty mean to both Maverick and Torin and pushes them away every chance she gets (she doesn’t stop fighting their relationship until around 50% of book 3 and she continues to be pigheaded and reckless all the way until the end). She also constantly fights her demon and her vampire even when they’re offering sound advice. She’s mean and rude to her one and only friend for the entire series. I understand the character who pushes people away, but Barbie does that to the extreme and ultimately she never really lets down her guard. I just didn’t see any redeeming qualities in her character to offset her abrasive nature and give her a little more balance.

I anticipated we’d see a big breakthrough for her in this book, but the little moment at the time of the funeral wasn’t really big enough.

The actually story is really good though! I loved Torin and Mav. If you can handle a super frustrating female lead then I’m sure you’ll love the series.

Ashes to Ashes is definitely everything I wanted from this series! Not only did I get more sassy Barbie, but got to see her relationship with Torin and Mav grow. Barbie really came into her own in this book and seeing how she handled the challenges of being turned. This series has made me laugh out loud while reading it wayyy to many times, and I love the insults Barbie uses. I am sad to see the series end, but so happy with the actual ending. If you like heroines with sass and spunk then this series is DEFINITELY for you.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
