This is a cute story but it is so short I found myself continually waiting for the story to go somewhere major.
I'm not a fan of explicit sexual content but this was pretty okay. The karaoke offsets a lot of the speed the relationship develops though I do wish it had been a slower burn. Sam and Lily deserved the time to grow into themselves (and each other, wink) alongside their other relationships.

This was a novella but light (ish) in terms of content. We meet Sam, a non-binary professor who is frequenting his watering hole aka a local bar they normally go to with a specific group of friends. Sam interacts with Lily, a cis plus sized woman who has caught their attention for a while now. The pacing didn't feel too fast despite the minimal amount of pages. In addition there are conversations around gender identity, body image talks and if the attraction is mutual between Sam and Lily. Unfortunately, miscommunication does make an apperance and I personally think if you are 35-40's (Sam is in their 40's and Lily is my age (32) you can communicate properly if you choose to do so.

Cute and comfortably predictable. Relatable characters. Given the ages of the characters I was surprised how YA their love story felt, and given how short it is there was a high ratio of smut, but if that's your thing this might be a great fit.

I agree with other reviews, the main characters do not act like they are in their 30s/40s, and instead act like they’re in their twenties (maybe that’s the point?). The main characters had cute moments together, and the half-ish point of them hooking up made sense. The last third of the book was completely unnecessary- I felt that the conflict was just drama for no reason. It really make me angry at one half of the pair, which was a huge bummer. I understand that communication can be hard, but damn! Sam deserves better.
