This graphic novel is about Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye. It's a fun read about a lady who is sassy and looking for work as a private investigator. It's part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so there are references to the Avengers and there is a cameo from another MCU character. It's a fun read and this is just the beginning of Kate's adventures.

How can you not love Kate Bishop? She's funny, smart, and not anyone's sidekick.

Good fun. I'm having a hard time enjoying trades lately, I think maybe because 4-5 issues is just too short to get really satisfying absorbed in the story and characters, especially when so much time gets spent on action sequences. Really what I need is to wait until an entire run is out and then read all the trades at once (or wait for an omnibus, I guess).

That said, Kate Bishop is a great Hawkeye, this was an excellent new cast, and I'm super looking forward to reading all of them in a row!

I love Kate Bishop - scatter-brained, disorganized, well-meaning and big hearted. Just like me. All I need is a bow and arrow and some mischief to get into. On second thought I have horrible hand/eye coordination. I think I will leave it to the pros. The story picks up with Kate attelpting to open her own Private Eye agency - which she has ZERO idea how to go about - that aside new clients find her anyway. The story almost follow a Scooby Doo-esc mask villan has he wreak havoc on the town with his brain wash cult. Gives you everything and more than you could possibly want and/or need in a comic.

The first arc was just meh but I liked that Kate found new friends. The Jessica Jones guesting was pretty cool though.

Basically everything about this works. The art is good. Kate is a protagonist who is a lot of fun to follow around. Her voice, her attitude, and her approach keep the story engaging and entertaining.

Additionally, the story stands effectively on its own, which is something that I appreciate (though it does reference the previous run of Hawkeye for some backstory). The other established characters that make appearances here fit in perfectly and have some great dynamics with Kate - as do the new characters introduced in this volume.

Overall, it was just an excellent blend of humor, action, and adventure in which the writing and art come together to make an enjoyable whole.
