Not sure what the heck I'm meant to think about this. Weird and horrific book. GUTS obviously the most popular story I'm guessing. Don't think I'll ever forget that story. I've actually made people just read that story. The stories are pretty damn unpleasant.

rough rough read. i probably would have finished it if i had a stronger stomach, but i dont, and i didnt. to be clear, this book is well written, with the descriptions being incredibly good and each character having a unique vignette. However. the gross. the “old” guy’s backstory was the point where i almost tapped out, and the story about old people fucking nasty while pretending to be homeless was where i did tap out. not for the faint of heart.
No girls i picked up this book thinking it was about ghosts and then started reading it on my lunch break. You can imagine my surprise! DNF because I didn't read the synopsis and was jumpscared by the gore so much I couldn't finish my sandwich.

gross for the sake of being gross. If you’re looking to get your body-horror fix, go ahead and read. If you’re looking for a horror novel that will leave a lasting impact on you, look elsewhere (The Troop, for example). 2 stars for not being bad but not being good. It was okay/readable. Probably won’t read more of his books.

his writing is great but his brain is a fucked up nightmare realm, there was so much disgusting scenery and not real sexual assault of children but eluding to it was too much for me. I would not recommend to anyone I love and care about. The only saving grace was some parts were really well written in describing humanity and one poem was interesting talking about God
