This isn't a vampire book in the traditional sense, but that's fine with me. I thought the story was really well done. My only ding is all the pop culture references. The story itself could have longevity, but all those celebrity drop ins won't mean squat as this book gets older.

I'm pretty sure I bought this (more than a year ago) because it is read by Kate Mulgrew. She did a fantastic job and I'll be looking for more audio books from her.

I'm not a horror fan, but I really liked this. The vampiric Rolls Royce, the super creepy gas mask man, Christmas, teleporting covered bridges, there is a lot in this book to love and Joe Hill is a great story teller.

It ran on a bit too long. I think I generally like shorter books a bit more, all other things being equal. I don't think that any of the major scenes were extraneous, but that most of them were a little too long and there was a cumulative effect.

Mr. Hill, you are the dark wizard of horror fiction today. How do you worm your way into my scared place so easily after all these years as a fan of the genre? Because I have no idea what is coming on the next page. Well, I have some idea...it's going to be dark, disturbing, and downright nasty. I spent this ride on the back of Vic's bike, screaming the whole way. And thank you for Lou, our anchor in the tidal wave of terror. Now I have to go read something funny so that I can sleep tonight.
