~ updating this to 4 stars, I find myself thinking about this book more than I thought I would :) ~

3,5 stars
it was somewhat relatable (feeling lost as a young woman, living in London, etc) but I was also so frustrated with Anna at times. loved the opera/performing descriptions though.
the power imbalance in their ‘relationship’ was interesting too, Max was both a prick and charming, so I ended up conflicted about it at times.
an interesting read overall

A painfully accurate flashback to being an early 20s girly with no money pursuing an art form with a people-pleasing mindset. Throwing down years of young adulthood trying to impress men and make everyone like you instead of working on liking yourself. The metaphor of the voice is a bit in-your-face... I enjoyed the opera aspects more once I listened to some of the songs mentioned in the book. The ending: Not what I would have hoped for the character, but again, mainly because it made me cringe and reflect on my own decisions due to its accuracy.
