This was such a cute story!!! I really enjoyed the romance and how Niki was able to let go while she was with him and trust her instincts! I'm also in love with the fact that she's 29 and found the love of her life. I'm twenty-seven currently and always think I won't be able to find anyone. Their love story was incredible and I related to Niki really hard. All the fantasies she had and all the choices she made felt like things I would do as well in the same situation. I throughly enjoyed everything in here.

Unfortunately this just didn't work for me. I can accept insta-love as a trope, but then there was very little development of the relationship until all of a sudden it's been a couple of weeks and they're both ready to declare their love to each other. There was no heat to it. If there had been a little heat or chemistry to their interactions, I wouldn't have minded it being basically no-spice. I thought it was interesting at first that Niki kept asking people what Diwali was all about, but she never does get a clear answer. And finally, based on Niki's maturity and the way she acted, she seemed more like a teenager than a 29 year old.

This is the kind of novel that’s good for those who want a no-stakes, no-burn romance.

The romance just happened and honestly was delusionally-intense from our main character. I hate to admit but this main character had no distinct personality (which psychologically makes sense for someone with strong people-pleasing tendencies due to cultural/parental expectations), and although I can relate to being a hopeless romantic, boy was that solely her personality. Relationship dynamics with other characters to the main character were weak, and speaking of other characters, their personalities weren’t that greatly outlined either,

Would’ve been a DNF if not for a rom-com book club.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I liked the ending but the pacing and the chemistry felt off.
