Doris is finding her voice as a writer. She still goes through men like tissues, but there are a few longer stories—and scandal!—that kept me interested. At points, we get glimpses of Doris rubbing up against societal expectations of her based on her gender, or other societal norms that are much different now. For example, a less than professional relationship with one of her attending doctors. Another doctor who might have gotten the wrong idea about Doris and exploits his authority in the examination room. Doris has more adventures and drama in this volume than the first, and I feel like this series is just getting warmed up! Can't wait for the next few volumes.
