I enjoyed the begining bits and seeing Csorwe's journey. Think the best bit is when she's undercover as a maid and meets Tal...but Tal is probably the best character just because he makes the book funny. He's definitely the high light of the book!
Just wish there was more cult stuff and better chemistry with the characters, sorry Csorwe but I didn't particularly care about you or Shuthmili.

Overall very good. I would have enjoyed hearing more about the people and their inner thoughts, and more about what happened between the time skips. An interesting beginning, looking forward to the next one.

The concept of this book was way more interesting than the execution. I feel like the blurb really didn’t get the point of the book.
I didn’t really mesh with any of the characters and kept hoping that something more exciting would happen, and it just didn’t. There was very little chemistry between Shuthmili and Csorwe, which didn’t make their choices very believable.
I would’ve loved to hear more about the initial coup that took Sethennai’s seat of power away, the Maze, and the interconnected worlds. There were some really cool ideas that just weren’t fleshed out very well at all.
The most disappointing part was the ending, which fell pretty flat and felt very low stakes. It was just too easy. Also, the book kept building up that Csorwe was still bound to the Unspoken, and the resolution of that was super underwhelming.
