Somehow I missed this book when it was first popular, but I’m really glad I finally decided to check it out. Set in Afghanistan, it follows a young boy and his friend as they grow up and try to escape the Taliban and other rising problems at home. I learned a lot about Afghan society prior to the Taliban, and also about what it was like for Afghan refugees in America. Great read!
