I want to start by saying that I really enjoyed this book! It was a cute story, with that enemies-to-lovers vibe I love so much. Honestly, I don’t have a ton to say (hehe), but I’ll try.

Bee is such a sweet character. I loved her edgy side with all the piercings and tattoos, it made her stand out in a cool way. I LOVE a strong opinionated woman! But I didn’t fully connect with her like I usually do with main characters. Sometimes the fainting and a few of the things she said gave me the ick a little :( And her backstory with Tim… ugh, so sad. Honestly, fuck Tim!!!

Levi, on the other hand, wow. I loved him. The yearning? I could not handle it. From the very beginning, he was head over heels, and I adored that about him.

“Here’s some honesty: I’m in love with you, but that’s not news. Not to me, and not to you.”

Like… hello??? This is exactly the kind of energy I love in a love interest. A man who knows what he wants and shows it. On top of that, his selflessness, the way he looked out for everyone he cared about, it’s inspiring. His family, though? Absolute assholes. I was waiting for karma to humble them.

My only real complaint is that the book felt like it could have gone deeper. There were loose threads that I wish had been explored more. Still, it was a fun, quick read that made me laugh and kept me hooked.

Hmm. I finished the love hypothesis the other day and was so obsessed I dove right into this one. But I felt like it was just the same story with some adjustments and therefore I did not really enjoy this… Not sure if I would’ve felt different if I left more time in between reading them, since I also didn’t really like the main characters. And who passes out twice by looking at a toy spider…? I really hoped this book was going to get better as it went on, but it just didn’t do it for me.

Binged this in one day! Exactly what I needed after a heavier read.
I liked the anticipation that was drawn from their shared misunderstanding of Levi hating Bee.
I enjoyed the side quest of Bee’s alter ego Twitter account and the issues it brought up that women in STEM face. The addition of having an online male ally and it being Levi was the perfect way to hear his pov about Bees return to his life.
The mystery surrounding their research really just comes in at the end but I was more suspicious all the way through thinking someone was spying and sharing info with the competition but that wasn’t quite the case.
All the little threads that were pulled throughout the story (mystery cat, job security, coworker dramas) gets all sorted by the end and I really liked that.
The longing on Levi’s part was so painfully clear and well portrayed through his behaviours and his messages. It really fleshed out the one-sidedness of the story.

being a woman in STEM kinda makes me a general ali hazelwood hater bc im like sorry nobody in my general vicinity is a dark brooding man whose been in love w me for years BUT i will say second to that my favorite trope is an annoying girl/ quiet guy pairing and that was this… and i did love it.

and yes the gun and the whole crime stuff was so CRAZY like for what? so unexpected i feel that would have never been a normal situation to happen but wins and losses ig.

Couldn’t put this one down!! Another great Ali Hazelwood romance with enemies to lovers. I did find the main character to be a bit frustrating at some points with all of her
denial and pushing away the things she’s scared to lose. But it makes sense considering her childhood.
Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to see more STEM women falling in love from Hazelwood.
