Blah, read for book club. Was excited for a holiday read but the theme was more mystery and super boring. Holidays didn’t ready play a part. Short book that could have even been shorter. Such useless passages and information given Not a fan! End was interesting enough and predictable.

RATING: 2.5 STARS
I rated this book a 2.5 stars, rounded up to three, because this was not a bad novella at all. I just felt like I was missing some backstories and it wasn't drawn out much. The latter might be due to the former problem for me. This is why I have to read in order for series! I will go back and try either a standalone novel, or first in the series.

Lady Vespasia and her husband Victor Narraway are again featured in a Christmas story. This time Victor is attempting to collect important information at a benign holiday gathering, but it's looking more and more like a case he was never able to solve from 20 years before.
I also like when Perry dives into the relationships of secondary characters from her series, and these two are always fun to follow. The mystery is short and perfect to read right before the holiday.

somewhat of a cozy mystery set during a Christmas gathering of people who aren't friends at all. I think there was just a bit much time spent on calling Vespasia old and repeating the things Vespasia and Narraway were thinking about one another. I'm also reading this series entirely out of order so I recognize some of the characters but not a lot of the references. would give this 3.5 if I could!

DNF. I hadn't read Anne Perry before and this was a Christmas one, so I left the ARC until December to read. Turns out it's not really my thing.
