Wow. This series is not going the way I expected it to. I actually adore that so far it has been completely different. I think it’s exactly what I was looking for, in many ways.
Naomi’s quest isn’t over, and she still doesn’t really have any answers for what is going on. They’re setting it up so it seems like she’ll be getting more answers soon…but I can’t help but feel like the buildup to the conclusion of this issue was a little too ominous. I feel like the shoe is about to drop. Perhaps I’m just being paranoid?

*Mild spoilers, read at your own discretion.*

Another great issue that was full to the brim with suspense, revelations that not even the characters saw the need for, and a plot twist so left field that nobody could have foreseen it.

Thoughts on this issue:
- There was a lot of dialogue but I actually liked that. Hats off to [a:Bendis|12424|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1239763230p2/12424.jpg] for fitting THAT much dialogue on a very limited amount of pages.

- Thank you for the random revelation regarding the motorcycle guy, aka Dee. This brings to light exactly 2 questions: 1. Who needed this revelation? (no one) and 2. What is the significance of this revelation? (we better find out soon).
I feel so sorry for Dee having to live so long on Earth without his love but surely it’s been years, couldn’t she find a way to get to Earth after all this time??

- I LOVED THE [b:YOUNG JUSTICE|43130288|Young Justice (2019-) #1|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1546775023s/43130288.jpg|66931262] TIE-IN. SO CLEVER. Not entirely sure if it was intended. But I recognised it and appreciated it.
Including Gemworld like that. It was so unexpected. I’m already making those links to how Conner ended up on Gemworld too. Is it possible that the Young Justice team could use the portal/door thing in the basement of “the dark lord’s fortress”. The dark lord must be Opal!
I am so interested to see if this really does tie-in to Young Justice and is more than just an Easter Egg. It would make this the first link between the DC Wonder comics which are all spearheaded by [a:Bendis|12424|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1239763230p2/12424.jpg]. - The mum went a bit crazy. Such an escalation! She came in with
a baseball bat and then also slapped Dee. Which is crazy because the guy is so soft even though he is all big and muscly. He was just tearing up about losing his love to Naomi and then her mother comes in like a bull in a china shop and slaps the poor guy. Felt even more sorry for him at that point. Especially considering it was all Naomi's fault to begin with. She seemed to be super angry but her anger wasn't really warranted. Which just brings to light more questions like: What was the deal that Naomi's adoptive parents made with Dee? Why did her adoptive parents not want her knowing that her adoptive father was clearly not human?

- That plot twist at the end was so unexpected and I like that! Nobody likes a predictable plot. A few questions I have now:
What planet is Naomi’s dad from? And what does this have to do with Naomi’s real parents? I wonder what superhero name/abilities her dad has...

- I am warming up to Naomi a lot. I like her inquisitive nature and she’s very relentless. She’s determined and strong-willed, yet she doesn’t compromise her compassion in order to find something out. You can still see her feel for Dee when she hears his story.

All in all, a solid stream of mystery has been woven throughout the first 3 issue, now we finally get an answer that’s really another question dressed up as an answer. Somehow it still satisfies me and it feels like a surprising and clever move to make. Interested in what comes next...
