I really liked it, the fights were genuine and didn't feel contrived. Also just pretty hot.

Almost a 4 star.

I really enjoy the Spires series. This one forced me to come out of my comfort zone as the age gap is a huge focus on the book. While Toby is not immature, he’s just young. I was taken aback by the third act fight because it felt juvenile in that it took so long to just admit what was really bothering him about his life’s journey so far. But as always, Hall doesn’t leave us miserable for very long.

Also as the dom sub relationship is unconventional, it really gave me a new perspective on the intricacies of BDSM. Preconceived notions vs partners doing what’s best for them.

I agree with another reviewer that some sex scenes felt repetitive. Beautifully written and hot af. But sometimes it felt like the book was dragging on.

Tart and sweet.

Toby is a young prince, cruel and new.
Laurie is a wound, raw and angry.

Two men who don't fit the standard trappings of scene, but who fit each other perfectly.
What Alexis Hall writes feels real and wonderful. I'm never quite prepared for his books to end.

Age gap, class gap, young Dom/older sub, h/c, impact, restraints, clamps, and lemon curd.
