You can add Mary Laura Philpott to my list of authors I would like to sit and have coffee with.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I can picture it now:⁣⁣
Me - *completely cool and collected* 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦!⁣⁣
Her - 𝘖𝘩, 𝘩𝘪!⁣⁣
Me - 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶! 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬! 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘤𝘩𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨?⁣⁣
Then she would thank me, tell me her beverage, and ask, 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶?⁣⁣
Me -  *losing my collected demeanor* ⁣I would probably tell her that even though I drink my coffee black, I'm not psychotic. *eye twitch* And then I would ask for her autograph, ask if we can be besties, and then I would unveil all my anxieties to her - like you would to a bestie upon meeting them for the first time. (How else are you supposed to weed friends out?)⁣⁣
And since Mary Laura is so nice, she would listen and sign her book, and maybe even read it to me. ⁣⁣
I'm sure I would probably cry at some point. You know, just to make it extra awkward.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
These are things I think about.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There were so many nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout 𝐈 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤.  And the story of how she found her book title is priceless.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Countless times my head was like, "𝘖𝘩𝘮𝘺𝘨𝘰𝘥, 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰!" ⁣

She loves Brandi Carlile. Need I say more?⁣

I found so many connections to the author's words. And the parts where I didn't fully connect - like how Mary Laura respects celebrities' privacy and doesn't make a fool of herself or approach them in public, except for that one time 😉 - I could learn from her. ⁣⁣
(Here's looking at you, Rob Schneider. So sorry for calling you Paul Giamatti to your face at Legoland and then touching your shoulder when you turned away in disgust. It won't happen again.)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of my fave nuggets from the book: "𝘋𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵."⁣

Philpott has another book releasing this year! 𝐁𝐨𝐦𝐛 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫 is already on my must-reads list, and I have the perfect book-sized space on my shelves that is ready for April 12th!⁣
