Very good book; the comparisons to The Martian are spot-on. Really enjoyed the tech details throughout the book.

Pretty depressing view of humanity though. Instead of focusing on the amazing accomplishments possible, humans are so busy squabbling and fighting the whole achievement of space travel and going to the moon is pretty wrecked with idiot "space race" foolishness. I'm suddenly kind of hoping no other intelligent life is looking our direction; our behavior is just embarrassing.
