The first story of this book is intriguing and left me wanting to know more. I wish this had been the full novel as the rest of the short stories lacked the same appeal. I was hoping for something dark and humorous but the comedy is very light and the paranormal aspects lacking.

This book by Tom Cox is an anthology of short stories which focus on weird fiction twists, nature and folklore. I went into this thinking I would really love it but it fell a bit flat for me. I enjoyed the first story but was left feeling more and more confused after finishing each chapter. I like mysterious books but unfortunately this one didn’t gel with me.
