Spectacular!

The second installment of the Folk of the Air did not disappoint. It was full of intrigue, political battles, and a couple of twists and turns!

However great the climax and resolution was, this book still had a problem that I mentioned in my review of the Cruel Prince. The pacing was still off. Though, more happened leading up to the climax in the Wicked King than the Cruel Prince, almost nothing happened until about page 250.

The romance between Jude and Cardan is strange, to say the least. The chemistry is there and they have a pull to each other. The love hate relationship is interesting, but the romance is not the primary reason I loved this book.

Jude grew more savage and murderous. Her relationship with her family in Faerie grew tense and the tension continued throughout the story. And Taryn is a horrible sister! Even for a mortal raised in Faerie, she is a horrible horrible sister!!

I will leave my review at that in order to not spoil anything. I am still dealing with the fallout of the book, myself! Ah I cannot wait a year for the third installment! January can't come soon enough!

This was a good follow up to the first book. The dynamics between the sea and land unfolded at a decent pace, and it was interesting to think about how all the different factions might interact and benefit from scheming with / against one another.
The reason this book doesn’t rate higher for me is because the relationship building (and breaking!) between lovers, friends, and enemies was not strong enough, esp in a story where the MC finds herself soooo far from where she started out.
That said, I was still interested in hearing the story out, and will read the third installment.
