The book felt like one big prologue
I liked the first part of this book, from the vampire's perspective. It was a cool interpretation of a vampire embodying rage and I loved reading about her experiences in time-spanning, snippets. I don't usually read spicy books, so I was surprised to read those sections, but vampires lore is steeped in sexuality so it also made sense for it to be present.
The second half of the book with present day Alma was slower paced which was jarring jumping from the first part, but I did love how her grief was written about and the realistic protrayal of caring someone with a terminal illness and the pain associated with it. There was a lot packed into this small book! It felt rushed in some ways and slow in others so pacing is my main reason for not rating it higher.

I am always down for a sexy vampire story. I was especially intrigued by the description of Thirst as a sapphic vampire gothic. I generally enjoyed this book, but I found the structure to feel a little disjointed. The narrative is split roughly into two halves: the history of the book’s unnamed vampire protagonist and a woman in more-or-less contemporary Buenos Aires who finds herself drawn into the vampire’s life. I found the transition between these two sections jarring, and lost the flow and intrigue in the second half. I missed an overall stylistic or thematic connection to really drive the book home.
