Even though it was fast, if you have any connection with addiction, it will make you reflect. It was very thoughtful and well put together for how horrible the content can be.

This book tore me apart. You know that it will end in one death, and that keeps you on your toes. You remind yourself not to get attached, because you will loose one of them. Yet, you do. You fall right with them.

This was such a brilliant way to tell a story on addiction. There’s creativity in it, an idea that made it feel new and made me pay attention.
Like I am used from Shusterman, a brilliant idea is transformed into a masterpiece of a story. God, I wish I could work with my ideas in such a masterful way.

The execution was careful and yet brutal. It did not shy away, but it did not loose nuance. It never forgot to mention the good drugs being with them, while making clear that that is not the story this book is telling. This book tells the story of abuse and addiction, and that there’s nothing pretty about it.

All of this is to say: I loved the book.

Incredible book. A very sensitive and creative exploration of some very deep, touching and emotional subject matters. The authors nail Roxy in a tone that is accessible and engaging without doing their subjects a disservice, or becoming derivative.
An amazing read which, while slightly out of the ordinary, engages the brain and the heart in a unique and compelling tale of the struggles of modern life.

I "met" Neal Shusterman through the Unwind Dystology. And it's been a very, very long time since I've read it, but I always remembered how much I enjoyed that series. Roxy is another grand slam. Those last chapters I thought I was going to throw up I was so worried!!! <Spoiler>And God, their parents. It really hurts to think about what they must be going through knowing both their kids abused drugs

Each of the drug characters are very well personified. My favorite character is probably Addison. Idk, something about a complicated antagonist that you just gotta love.
