This book took me two years to read. Two YEARS! Oy vey, it's nearly 500 pages, maybe it's all of Edmonds's shorter fiction? It was good. The beginning was better than the end, and the ending paragraph made very little sense to me, especially as a place to cap everything off at. God, it was so good to see the Erie Canal in use and the types of people along its shores and center. They passed through Upstate NY towns I know and love. Edmonds is a good author, and I'm surprised I hadn't heard of him before. Bless Syracuse for publishing this, albeit in 1987, and bless the book sale for hawking it to me, I'm going to keep this dude close to me.
