i’ve only finished part one. not sure if i’ll get to part two ever. this translation was EXTREMELY good and VERY readable. excellent preservation of the humor as well. this book was hilarious and interesting, but drug on at certain parts. extremely long - imo meant to be consumed like a serial tv show where you read one or two chapters every so often and not as a book you focus on to finish. im glad i read this.

I think this is the most fun I have had reading a book. Don Quixote spends all his time reading books about knights that he goes mad, believing that he himself is a knight, and sets off on a journey seeking adventures with Sancho, a villager, he meets along the way. The journey takes these two across the landscape of Spain, where they are faced with challenges and adventures that Don Quixote describes as the stories that he has read in his many books. However, the reality is very different. He fights inanimate objects and buildings are monsters and pubs are great castles. This book is filled with so many little adventures and stories that are equal parts funny and exciting to read. Don Quixote is one of the most compelling characters I have ever come across. Does he really believe the things he says? Why does he do all this? I’m glad that the book leaves it up to you to come up with these. His friendship wi the Sancho is one of the highlights and their small conversations as they go about their travels never failed to make me smile. Overall, it was a long book but one that never failed to entertain.
