Auch wenn die Sprache für mich doch sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig war, hatte ich schon nach wenigen Anekdoten Freude an dem "Ritter von der traurigen Gestalt". Der Don und sein Diener Sancha waren ein sehr unterhaltsames Komikerduo. Diese Geschichte bietet so viel mehr als nur den bekannten Kampf gegen Windmühlen - am faszinierendsten war für mich eigentlich das ständig gegebene Miteinander von Realität und Fantasie.
Vor allem aber bin ich glücklich, nun auch diesen Wälzer von meiner Weltliteratur-Liste streichen zu können.

It was wonderful and memorable. I am glad I finally read the novel!
DONE. My book group started Don Quixote as our shared classic read back in February 2020, reading 2 - 3 chapters per week. It feels like a huge accomplishment to reach the end!
I'm giving this book 5 stars because -- well, how can I not? It's a classic for a reason, and clearly a masterpiece. That said, I often struggled to keep going, and would never read a modern book with a similar style. In any case, I'm happy to have experienced it, and I'm thrilled to be done!

The Arden Shakespeare's introduction to Double Falsehood or, The Distressed Lovers pointed me to a certain extended sequence in Book I, so of course I had to read the whole thing before I continued DF. I was continually surprised at how well I enjoyed myself the whole, longlonglong way through. :)
I have not completely finished. Only done part one, which was my goal for the summer.
