I went into this expecting a much more positive, empowering take on a woman who used her sex appeal to take over Hollywood and became famous. What I was not expecting, was the raw, emotional turmoil that drove the plot forward, the found family troupe, and the absolute heartbreaking ending to it all.

It was a little slower than I would have liked, BUT this was an absolutely beautiful book! The storytelling was on point, and the way in which the author made us both love and hate Evelyn Hugo was brilliant!

I had no expectations or idea of what the book was about, just that it had good reviews. It ended up being so inspiring and just such a riveting and wonderful listen!
Highly recommend!

This is genuinely one of the best books I have ever read, and it easily makes it into my top 10 (if not top 5). I loved this book from beginning to end. The story was captivating and extremely hard to put down. The book talks about important topics such as the downside to being a celebrity, acceptance of interracial relationships, and LBGTQ acceptance (historically and presently), among others. It shows how fun and glamorous being the center of attention can be while outlining what you must give up. I loved every single character in this book by the end. At around page 300, my heart was racing, and I was crying. Truly a remarkable book.
