This story gave me a perspective on fame I never considered. After reading this, I have so much more empathy for celebrities. I catch myself speculating their decisions, news articles, etc. and pausing to realize that I have no idea who these people are and that I can’t pass judgement on them because of that. I’m so glad I read this.

I wanted to see for myself what the hype was about around this book. And honestly, I thought it was a perfect book to get me out of my reading slump. It's a very fast-paced book with cliffhangers after each chapter and it helped that the chapters were on the shorter side. The one drawback that I think didn't really need to be in the book was race. I understand that it needed to be brought up closer to the ending where Evelyn's big secret was revealed about the main character but other than that, I don't think mentioning the characters race did anything to help the storyline.

TLDR: For those who enjoy beautifully crafted storytelling and unforgettable characters, this novel is a must-read.

This book actually had me really invested in the characters. Everyone and their flaws felt so plausible and that I cheered for them when good things happened and felt physically ill when things went wrong. So often, I felt like this was written about actual people and found myself checking the authors name on the book to be sure it wasn’t listed as Monique. Haha. And then I caught myself wishing I could watch all the movies Evelyn and her fellow actors and actresses starred in. I was very surprised about how much I enjoyed this.
