I adored this book. It was such a satisfying story that I cried at the end. This story answers some of the questions of why Hollywood stars get married so many times. The history of one actress trying to be a star while hiding her real life from the public was fascinating.

I went into reading this book without knowing much about it. And all I can say is, that I couldn’t put it down.
The characters are flawed, but in a way that makes them raw and real. If you have any experience with some of the devastating things that happen in the book, you know why some of the characters acted the way they did. Because humans aren’t perfect, and their stories aren’t perfect. You do selfish things when you get hurt.
I thought it was a clever idea to put magazine articles in there. You could keep track of which year you were in and I liked that the characters talked about events that took place in the timeline like the Stonewall riots.
A really good book that I can recommend and will read again.

“And at the end of her life, she was finally ready to be real. So I’m going to show you the real Evelyn.”

Okay, so I am obviously really late to the party on this one. I feel like everything that can be said about this book has already been said, so I'm going to keep this review really brief.

Highlights For Me

Evelyn Hugo's Character -- OMG! I know everyone says it, but Evelyn Hugo feels like a real person. How can I not go and watch her movies?!?! Taylor Jenkins Reid did an amazing job of writing a complex and totally believable character, who skirts the line between good and bad. This is morally grey writing at its best. I love Evelyn.

Fast Paced -- This book is a page turner. If I had didn't have other things to do, I would have binge read this book in an afternoon. I did not want to put it down. It felt like the perfect cross between a gossip magazine, a soap opera, and a reality show.

The Writing Style -- This book is incredibly readable. The prose isn't fancy or quirky, it just works.

TLDR; I loved this book!
