i really enjoyed Evelyn's narrative, but the ending, specifically
Monique's father being the passenger in Harry's fatal car crash
, just felt cheap, as well as a lot of Monique's character development. like she interacts with Evelyn and then
asks for a promotion and divorces her husband
—that's great but i'm not entirely convinced it was necessary. would the story not have worked if it was only Evelyn's autobiography?

Predictable, well-paced, forgettable, tearjerker. Ate it up in 1 day.
Less steamy than promised, more of chance humidity.

Wow, I haven’t read a book this great in awhile. Evelyn Hugo is a complex character, but I couldn’t help rooting for her. It was easy to love the people Evelyn loved. Without giving away spoilers, my heart broke and the tears couldn’t stop flowing on *certain parts*. The depth of  each character & overall rich storyline will stick with me for awhile. Definitely will buy this novel to keep in my home library.

This book was AMAZING! I know everyone says it, but it’s true. It took my about a week to really get into the book (but that’s because I was attempting to annotate my thoughts along the way) but once I hit the half way point, I couldn’t stop reading it. All I’m saying is if you haven’t read this yet, you have to read it at some point. (Remember to check TW!)

An incredible book that follows the story of the beloved and deeply complicated Evelyn Hugo. A reflective roller coaster of emotions.
