DID NOT FINISH

The content was a little too tragic for me to handle rn

A must read for any older teen/adult. A book where the characters stay with you long after you are finished reading.

I sit here, having finished this book, wiping tears from my eyes and snot from my nose, and wonder how to write a review that encompasses this book. I don't think it's possible. This book was everything! I don't think I've ever read something so honest and raw before. A book that has so much emotion sewed into it. Right from the beginning this book grabbed my heart and squeezed, compelling me to read it's entirely within a day. If someone tells you they didn't like this book, don't trust them. If someone read this book and didn't love it, they weren't reading it right. There was so much pain, hardship, love, hope, and family bleeding onto the pages. So much rich history that I think too many people gloss over because they're uncomfortable. These characters were so developed and real, that by the end, I was a blubbering baby mess. This book deserves all the stars. It's a masterpiece.

This book is an education. It’s heart wrenching, briefly heart warming, and does not feel like fiction. This book won the Pulitzer Prize for a reason. I’m glad I finally read it and will be thinking about it for a long time.
