I have had Never Coming Home checked out from the library on at least two other occasions and I finally got around to reading it. Overall, I really enjoyed it and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Billed as a young adults version of Agatha Christie’s famous novel When There Were None I was definitely interested in it. 10 influencers are invited for a week long vacation at a soft opening of a new resort. The unknown island is going to be an all inclusive resorts for under 21 year olds and everything there will be free.
As soon as they arrive at the islands, it becomes clear that the soft opening is really soft. the kitchen is not socks, fully with food, the Wi-Fi is horrible, there doesn’t seem to be any extra touches, and everything is very sparse. Things become even worse when there is a murder amongst them. The rest of them try to find a way off the islands before other people are murdered. Overall, I really liked it. I thought it was well done and I thought that the premise stayed true to Agatha Christie. My only critique of it was for the resolution I wanted more information. I felt that I understood what was going on, but it didn’t fully answer everything for me.

This was so lame, I’m sorry. The concept was cool but the execution was not. All the stories were just ripped from headline, everyone was way too chill when people were dying, and the big reveal doesn’t even make any sense at all. It doesn’t even feel like there was any resolution. The final article literally rehashes the entire book with nothing new. What was the motivation for any of this?! Fucking ridiculous.
