It’s hard to connect or empathize with a tyrannical serial killer monster as the main character. I didn’t really get this. I’m not a fan of evil for the sake of evil story lines. Also was confused where the LGBTQIA+ representation was? I wanted more of that. There was maybe half an ounce of it, not enough to put it in the plug.

The villain is the hero of her own story. Nothing could be truer as Nimona appoints herself as Ballister Blackheart's new apprentice. Pay no mind there was no "Help Wanted" ad.
Nimona is morally gray. Some would even go as far as to say bankrupt. So it's up to super villain Blackheart to teach her the ways of true villainy that more resembles heroics. Along the way we come across a conspiracy of epic proportions. Heartbreaking origin stories. Magic and science in the same universe! The creativity is bursting and I had endless fun reading these misadventures.

This was so cute and I loved the drawing and I loved the characters. However, I wasn't fully connected. It might have just been the format, however.

Watched and adored the movie first, but have been a big fan of Stevenson for a long time, so knew I had to read this one. Very fun read, got me on the verge of tears once or twice. I really wish it was longer, I feel like there’s so much more of the world to discover. Will be recommending it to everyone I know tho
